The only pre-requisite to take this course is to be a registered tax preparer in California and have a valid CTEC license. A general working knowledge of individual tax preparation is a plus.

Easy format designed to assist you in learning updated tax law material as well as helpling you solve your clients tax problems. The new format includes 14 hrs Federal, 4hrs California, and 2 hrs of Ethics law.

Examinations are "open book" with true or false and multiple choice questions. The passing grade is 70% or better. If you do not pass the first time, you may re-take the test after paying a small processing fee. See below.

Upon passing the course, a Certificate of Completion will be emailed to you. If you would like to also receive a hard copy of the Certificate please read below.
1. Buy the 20-Hrs course
Click on the "Pay Online" button to buy the course. This link will take you to a payment screen where you will pay with a credit card.
2. Order processing
Upon receipt of your order, we will contact you by email confirming your user name and password (selected by you) that will grant you access to the "Student" area of the site. Please keep your user name and password handy, as you will need them to login to take your final test. You can also reserve the special offer price by paying for the course before the offer expiration date. You can then take test online anytime before April 15, 2011!
3. Study Method
Once you have downloaded your study material you can start the course immediately. You can move through the course at your own pace, emailing your instructor when you have questions. Please be aware of the time limit set with this course, the test must be submitted online by April 15, 2011.
4. Graduation Information
Students must finish the 20hr income tax course and achieve a 70% score or greater on the final test in order to be awarded a Certificate of Completion, documenting successful completion of the course through A & B Office Income Tax School. Once you have passed the exam, you will receive the certificate of completion by email. You will also receive addinformation, such as a tax bond information, as well as instructions on how to renew your license with CTEC.
5. Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a "Certificate of Completion" by email. You will then be able to keep and print the certificate for your records. Additional Service: Includes mailing a personalized ready to frame certificate of completion and test results. You will only receive the questions missed on the test along with the correct answers - the cost is $12.99. Please allow two business days for processing. 6. Reporting to CTEC
A & B Office directly reports electronically all student certifications to CTEC within 48 hours. If you have any questions please Contact Us. Additional Service: We offer same-day reporting to CTEC, the cost for the expedited service is $14.99. Note that you need to purchase this service before 2pm PST, M-F.
7. Second Opportunity / Re-Take The Test
If you do not pass the exam you will have a second opportunity to do so. You will receive an email with instructions on how to take a second test; a small processing fee applies. If you fail the second test, you will need to buy a new course.
8. Refund Policy
If the school cancels or discontinues the course, the school will make a full refund of all charges. After the student has completed and passed the course, and the certificate of completion has been issued, the course is officially complete and no refunds will be issued. If the course was purchased as a correspondence course, the student has a right to a full refund of all charges less the amount of shipping & handling if he/she cancels this course agreement prior to midnight of the tenth (10) business day after the course was mailed. Refunds will be paid within 30 days of cancellation or withdrawal.
