This course is intended to enhance the tax expertise of a California Registered Tax Return Preparers (CRTRP). It will completely fulfill the new 2017 CTEC registration requirements for tax practitioners in California.




  • Pre-requisite: To to take this course you need to be a registered tax preparer in California with a valid CTEC registration I.D. number and have a valid IRS issued PTIN. A general working knowledge of individual tax preparation is a plus.
  • The new course format includes 15 federal hours (10 hours of federal tax law, 2 hours of ethics law, and 3 hours of tax law updates) plus 5 California hours. The course is easily formatted to assist you in learning updated tax law material as well as providing insight to help you solve your client's tax problems. CTEC course number 1057-CE-0001. The IRS 15 credit hours are defined by: 10-hour program number 4T3EX-T-00015-17-O. 3-hour program number 4T3EX-U-00014-17-O. 2-hour program number 4T3EX-E-00016-17-O.
  • If you do not pass the first time you can simply re-take the test for FREE. The final test is "open book" with multiple choice questions. The passing grade is 70% or better. If you don't pass the test twice, you may re-take the test after paying a re-take fee; see details below. Students must submit the final exam online before January 10, 2018.

 

 

Important Course Information

After purchasing and studying the course at your own pace, you must return to our website and submit the final test online. To do this, simply log in to your account and follow the instructions in the Customer Account "Online Test" button.

 

How To Purchase

Order Processing

To complete a purchase you must have an active account with our school. If you already have an account the system will ask you to log-in, if you don't the system will help you create one. Note that your account uses your CTEC I.D. number and/or email address. This account will grant you access to the "Student Center" area of the site. Please keep records of your email address and password as you will need them to login to the site. We do not share your email with other companies.

 

Study Method

Once you have downloaded your study material from the "Student Center" you can start the course immediately. You can move through the course at your own pace, emailing the instructor when you have questions. The exam must be submitted online before January 10, 2018.

 

Course Completion

Note that we are the first school to provide CTEC with your education information in real-time for FREE. Students must finish the 20hr exam consisting of 122 questions. Students must achieve a score of 70% or greater in order to be awarded a Certificate of Completion, documenting successful completion of the course with A&B Office Income Tax School. Immediately after you submit the final test, you will receive the final score with an email confirmation of your test results. You will then be able to print your certificate instantly. Certificate

Upon completion of the course you will be able to print a "Certificate of Completion." You will have access to the Certificate & Documents section from the Student Center page.

Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) - IRS Reporting

Our school reports corresponding student credit hours to the IRS for qualification in the AFSP program. Test Re-Take Fee / Second Opportunity

If you do not pass the online exam you will be given a second opportunity to re-take it. You will immediately get instructions on how to re-take the test by email. If you don't pass the exam twice, a $12.99 processing fee will apply in order to take the test a third and final time. If you don't pass the third test, you will need to buy a new course.

 

Refund Policy

If the school cancels or discontinues the course, the school will make a full refund of all charges. After the student has completed the course, and the certificate of completion has been issued, the course is officially complete and no refund will be issued. The student has a right to a full refund if he/she cancels the course agreement (in writing) prior to midnight of the tenth (10) CALENDAR day after the course was purchased. If the course was purchased as a correspondence (mail) course, the student has a right to a full refund of all charges less the amount of shipping & handling if he/she cancels this course agreement prior to midnight of the tenth (10) CALENDAR day after the course was mailed. Refunds will be paid within 30 days of cancellation or withdrawal.  

 

Mail Orders (Hard copy)

The course is available by mail order for those students that need a physical hard copy. There is an additional $24.95 fee for processing and grading the course material. The student must submit the final exam for grading before December, 21, 2017.  Note that grading and processing fees are non-refundable.
